FUTURE SPP EVENTS
Río de Janeiro (brazil, 26th - 31th May)
From 26 to 31 May this year the Global Fair Trade Week will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, an initiative of the Brazilian government, with the participation of WFTO and many other Fair Trade networks and initiatives. We will be making our appearance with the SPP with presentations, meetings with producers and at the Fair Trade Fair.
Next Saturday May 11th take action and celebrate the International Fair Trade !
PASSED SPP EVENTS
25th SCAA Annual Exhibition Event, Boston, USA - April 11-14, 2013
The SPP was present at the SCAA Specialty Coffee Fair 2013 in Boston, USA, from 11 to 14 April, with its own stand; small but with a warm atmosphere and a great influx of the friends of the SPP. It was a great meeting place for producers and buyers of coffee and even other products such as cocoa and sugar.
On the occasion of the SCAA, Friday April the 12th, the Fair Trade pioneer Equal Exchange, made its SPP coffee purchases public, which will enable them to launch eight Latin American coffees under the SPP in the course of 2013. Many small producer organizations, SPP companies as well as consumer organizations participating in the SPP congratulated Equal Exchange for taking this important step which will allow the SPP products to position themselves throughout the North American Union.
We welcome the campaign of Equal Exchange to support the SPP producers.
The atmosphere of joy and optimism continued on Saturday April 13, at the annual coffee event of the SPP, which became a great celebration of the concrete results of increased sales under the SPP with a total minimum sustainable price of 220 usd /100 lb of green coffee, when the conventional market is below 140 usd. A difference that makes.....a huge difference for small producers.
BIOFACH 2013 (Germany, February)
The BioFach was held from February 13th to 16th in Nuremberg, Germany. The first day was interrupted by the sudden decease of the prominent pioneer of the global movement of small organized producers and fair trade, spiritual founder of the Small Producers' Symbol and Surveillance Commissioner of FUNDEPPO, the Peruvian companion, Mr. Raul del Águila Hidalgo. May he rest in peace and that his great example of purposeful struggle may continue to illuminate our pathways.
In the afternoon of February 14, the SPP participated in the forum "A Holistic Approach to Fair Economy, Domestic Fair Trade and the Next Generation of Fair Trade", organized by the Fair World Project.
In the evening of that day the first European SPP reception was organized, which was dedicated to the memory of the Raul del Águila Hidalgo.
Second International SPP Gathering
